The Favia "Melting watermelon", a hard coral species of the Faviidae family is shown, colloquially also known as knob coral.
It is a widespread, compact growing, Large Polyp Scleractinia (LPS), which grows on shallow reefs in the Indo-Pacific. The name "Melting watermelon", probably refers to the red mouth openings, which seem to melt down on the coral.
